William Knight
as Inspector McCree

William began his career at five as Little Billy
Knight, world’s youngest ordained preacher, a
protege of the world renowned Aimee Semple
McPherson. After fathering a child at fifteen he
gave up the pulpit, did a stint in the US Air
Force, then enrolled in the theatre department
at LACC. It was an easy transition from the King
James version to Shakespeare.
After building his own theatre and playing the
classics in rep, he was brought to New York for
the Broadway opening of OH, CALCUTTA! He
remained there for 12 years, working on and off
Broadway, as well as regional theatre. He
played the three top generals of the 20th
Century: Mac Arthur (off Broadway),
Eisenhower (on Broadway), and Patton (video).
His favorite role was the title character in Brian
Freil’s FAITH HEALER.
His first television job was on the original STAR
TREK. His voice over work is extensive. He was
the voice of CBS Channel 2 News for several
years. His recent films include STARGATE,
WEDNESDAY’S CHILD, I GOT THE HOOK-UP,
SKIPPY, THE GARBAGE MAN, NAUTILUS,
DEADLOCK: A PASSION FOR MURDER, and
BACKGAMMON, to name a few. His TV work is
also extensive. He may be seen in the
recurring role of REVEREND TANNER on THE
YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. He has also
dubbed six Japanese animated series, voiced
radio and TV commercials, and appeared on a
SUPER BOWL add for HotJobs.com. But his
most important role for the past ten years has
been as single dad to Ryan, now 18, and two
pet wolves.
